Finally! A collection of songs that are targeting our Stake Dances! We have all been to Stake Dances where we have heard music and lyrics that cross the line of LDS standards. Until now, there have been few options that compete with the regular top 40 music being played in church buildings around the country. In 2008, a group of people who were in charge of putting on dances for the youth in our church took notice of the “music” situation that seemed to keep popping up every weekend. The selection of music was centered around the popular “top 40” playlist that is used in clubs around the world. These are “catchy” songs in every sense of the word. The lyrics, music and even the artist singing is designed to hook us into this culture of music that represents the worlds standards. The DJs that are hired
to be in charge of the music for these dances feel compromised because
our kids are the ones requesting this music to be played. When DJs
refuse to play it, often they are criticized for “not playing good”
music. Songwriters Rachelle Call and Jeannine Lasky decided to write
and put together a CD of "wholesome and hip" dance music as an
alternative to what is currently being played. "My Stake Dance Volume
